"Stadium Atmosphere" is the soundscape of a large sporting event: the hum of 20-30 thousand voices, periodic synchronised chants, stamping and applause from the stands, distant whistles, the announcer's voice through loudspeakers (deliberately muffled, without intelligible words). One of the most "energy-dense" sounds in our collection — overall level normally 80–100 dB, with peaks during a goal or key play up to 110–115 dB. Our recording is mixed down to a comfortable 65–70 dB, so it can serve as background without hearing risk.
Psychologically a stadium crowd is a phenomenon of collective emotional synchronisation. Páez and colleagues (Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 2015) showed that participants in mass emotional events synchronise not only mood but also physiological markers — heart rate, oxytocin release — a phenomenon they called "collective effervescence" (borrowing Durkheim's term). Listening alone doesn't fully reproduce the effect but still activates associations of group belonging and the warm feeling of "shared cause."
Use this track for workouts (especially strength — the crowd "cheers for you"), for watching a match you can't attend in person, for writing sports prose, for sports podcasts, and for gaming streams with a sports theme. Pairs with 94 bpm Drum A, Taiko B. Not suitable for any task demanding calm, concentration or sleep — this is an activating, "spiky" sound.
