"Park Atmosphere" is a soundscape of an urban park on a warm day: nearby birds, distant echoes of children's voices, leaf rustle, footsteps on a gravel path, muffled traffic outside the park, the occasional dog bark in the distance. This is the acoustic example of what Roger Ulrich, in his classic paper (Science, 1984) and his "Stress Recovery Theory," called the "natural environment" — surroundings statistically proven to accelerate recovery from mental and emotional stress.
Ulrich and colleagues (Journal of Environmental Psychology, 1991) showed that even 10 minutes in an environment with plants and birdsong lowers blood pressure and cortisol. The later meta-analysis by Buxton and colleagues (PNAS, 2021) — pooling 36 studies — confirmed the effect for nature sounds in general, and green city parks proved especially effective because the brain reads them as a "rescue island" in dense urbanism. The Japanese concept of "shinrin-yoku" (forest bathing) leverages exactly this effect for burnout prevention (Park et al., Environmental Health and Preventive Medicine, 2010).
Use this track for workday breaks (10–15 minutes with breath tracking), for people who can't temporarily go out into nature (winter, illness, move to dense megalopolis), for writing urban prose with lyrical scenes, and as background for family video calls with elderly relatives. Pairs with Singing Birds, Light Breeze, Playground (for more "life"). Also suitable for sleep, in a quieter mix.
