Construction Site is a dense industrial scene: jackhammer impacts, rotary-drill noise, the distant rumble of a concrete mixer, workers' voices, metal-on-metal scrape, the periodic short beeps of equipment, the rustle of work gear. One of the most stressful sounds in the urban landscape: total level normally 85 to 95 dB, with peak strikes above 110 dB. In the recording all this is compressed to a background 60 to 65 dB; we removed the real painful loudness, keeping only the acoustic pattern.
In reality, prolonged exposure to construction noise is a serious health factor. Babisch and colleagues (European Heart Journal, 2014) documented a link between living next to construction and increased risk of ischaemic heart disease. A brief listen at safe volume, however, isn't harmful and can even be useful, for example for people who work in industrial settings and want to keep a things-are-moving feel during a remote day. The scene also provides good contrast for ASMR-relaxation practice: after five minutes of construction, switching to forest feels particularly sharp.
Use this track for writing urban prose and industrial sci-fi, for construction and architecture podcasts, for sound design (as reference), for simulating an office in a noisy district, or for contrast therapy (a sharp transition from noise to silence). Pairs with City Noise, Highway and Power Drill. Categorically not for sleep, meditation or long work; too stress-inducing.
