Drum beat 30 bpm

30 bpm Drum is a slow, almost meditative pulse on a low-frequency frame drum. A tempo of 30 beats per minute means one beat every two seconds, around 0.5 Hz. This is far slower than a normal human pulse (60–80 bpm) and falls in the "therapeutic trance" range that shamans of North America and Siberia traditionally use to enter altered states. Anthropologist Michael Harner, in The Way of the Shaman (1980), described the shamanic drum as a key tool precisely because of its slow steady pulsation.

Neurophysiologically a slow steady rhythm works as a kind of "sensory deprivation" stimulus: attention gets no new information, and the brain gradually slides into a state close to early sleep (N1) with increased theta activity at 4–8 Hz. This is supported by Maurer and colleagues (Mental Imagery, 1997), who showed that listening to a shamanic drum at 4–7 beats per second (noticeably faster than ours here) increases theta activity; at 30 bpm the effect is gentler and suits people for whom normal "shamanic" tempos cause over-arousal.

Use this track for deep meditation, for guided imagery, yoga nidra, breathing techniques with long exhalation, sleep preparation, and writing on mythological and dream-like scenes. Pairs with Om Mantra, 432 Hz, Tribal Chants. Not for physical activity or analytical work — too slow to maintain tone.
