528 Hz wave

The 528 Hz harmonic wave is a cousin of 432 Hz tuned to one of the Solfeggio frequencies, promoted in esoteric circles as the DNA frequency or love frequency. The historical origin of this scale is a hypothesis by Dr Joseph Puleo, published in Horowitz & Puleo, Healing Codes for the Biological Apocalypse (1999), and that hypothesis has no recognition in academic acoustics or biology. The 528 Hz tone itself is real and is used in sound therapy; it's the C5 note in a system where A4 is approximately 444 Hz.

Objectively, there is no scientific confirmation that 528 Hz repairs DNA. What exists: Akimoto et al. (Health, 2018) showed that listening to 528 Hz music for five minutes lowered salivary cortisol versus control, but the effect was very small and comparable to the effect of pleasant music at other frequencies. The tone does work, but as a gentle relaxing stimulus, not as a mystical biological key. For people for whom sound numerology is part of their spiritual practice, this recording is meaningful all the same.

In our version 528 Hz plays as a warm, steady mid-register hum, without attack or modulation, essentially an acoustic plateau. Use it for meditation focused on the heart chakra (in esoteric tradition 528 Hz is linked precisely to that centre), for yoga, sound bath or long silent work. Pairs with 432 Hz, Om Mantra and Melodic Gong. If you're a sceptic looking for a neutral humming background without esoterica, go with 432 Hz; it's slightly cooler and carries less association.
