Pain Management
"Pain Relief" is a therapeutic mix for people with chronic or acute pain: a base of melodic gong (low-frequency overtones), with 432 Hz, slow ocean waves and singing bowl on top. The "sound therapy against pain" mix — a combination of tools for which an analgesic effect is documented.
Audio-analgesia is an established clinical phenomenon. Wepner and colleagues (Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2008) showed that chronic back pain patients undergoing 30-minute gong therapy sessions twice a week for 4 weeks showed statistically significant reductions in pain intensity (by 22%) and improvements in quality of life. The mechanism is multifaceted: (1) sound therapy activates the brain's natural opioid systems (Salimpoor et al., Nature Neuroscience, 2011); (2) low-frequency vibrations relax muscle tension; (3) attentional shift toward sound reduces "pain catastrophising."
Use this mix for chronic pain (migraine, fibromyalgia, back pain, arthritis) as a daily 30-minute practice, for acute pain (after surgery, injury) as an adjunct to analgesics, during labour contractions (in agreement with medical staff), for dental procedures (through headphones during treatment), and for oncological conditions with chronic pain. The mix is a supporting measure, not a replacement for medical treatment. Severe pain requires medical consultation. Pairs with Sound Bath (amplify), Tibetan Practice (meditative component), At the Hospital (clinical context).
