Migraine Relief

"For Migraine" is a therapeutic mix for people in or after a migraine phase: a base of brown noise at very low volume (muffling external stimuli without adding its own), with a muffled underwater hum and barely audible purring on top. The "acoustic dark room" mix — the audio analogue of a room with thick curtains and a soft pillow.

Migraine is a neurological condition in which the brain becomes hypersensitive to light, sound and smells. Goadsby and colleagues (New England Journal of Medicine, 2002) described photophobia and phonophobia as key symptoms in 80% of migraines. The standard recommendation in the acute phase is a dark, quiet room. But "quiet" does not mean "silent": complete silence is for many migraine patients even worse, because it causes hyperfocus on the heartbeat, pulsation in the temples and other internal signals. A mix with a very soft low-frequency background "masks" these internal stimuli without adding new irritants.

Use this mix during acute migraine (at the lowest possible volume — barely audible), as a background during the recovery phase after an attack, for people with chronic migraine (daily 20 minutes as prevention), and for people with sound hypersensitivity in general. Important: high frequencies can provoke migraine — this mix has none. The mix is a supporting measure, not a replacement for medication and neurologist consultation. Pairs with For Tinnitus (kin masking scene), Brown Noise (standalone), Deep Underwater (more isolation). DO NOT combine with high-frequency mixes.
