Slow Morning

Slow Morning
"Slow Morning" is a relaxation mix for an unhurried start to the day: a base of birdsong (the morning chorus around 7–9 a.m.), with coffee being made and a light breeze through a cracked window on top. The "slow Sunday morning" — what Danes call "hygge," Italians "dolce far niente," Russians "weekend morning without an alarm."
The mix addresses the modern cognitive phenomenon of "morning rush." Roenneberg and colleagues' circadian research (Current Biology, 2007) showed that modern people in developed countries chronically experience "social jet lag" — a mismatch between biological wake time and social schedule. Slow morning is therapy for this mismatch: permission to wake naturally and not rush. The natural "morning chorus" of birds spectrally and emotionally aligns with natural waking time and activates cortisol gently, without a spike.
Use this mix for Sunday mornings (especially after a stressful work week), for vacation days at home, for people recovering from burnout, for meditative breakfast with journaling or reading, for yoga in bed, and for parents of small children who finally have "their own time" in the morning. Session length: 30–90 minutes. Pairs with Spring Morning (more seasonal variant), Tea Break (short breaks), Sunday in a Café (urban variant).
