Hammock Time
In a Hammock is a relaxation mix with the acoustics of a midday garden: a base of light breeze in the canopy, with birdsong and distant cricket chirring on top. A summer siesta under an apple tree, an image from Southern European and Latin American culture.
The mix recreates the classic garden biome described in Epicurus and rediscovered by modern wellness science. Park and colleagues (Environmental Health and Preventive Medicine, 2010) in their work on shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) showed that 30 minutes in a garden or forest lowers cortisol and systolic pressure and activates the parasympathetic system. The original study required physical presence in nature, but later work by Annerstedt and colleagues (Physiology & Behavior, 2013) showed that purely audio exposure to such biomes also produces a measurable, if smaller, effect.
Use this mix for summer rest in a hammock or lounger (especially with a book), for daytime siesta (15 to 30 minutes), for meditative yoga or stretching in the garden, as a family-picnic background, for writing lyrical prose, or for people who spend much time indoors and need a nature correction. Also suitable for light sleep, especially daytime power naps. Pairs with Sunny Meadow (more openness), Lunch in the Park (city variant) or Summer Day (kin scene).
