Beach Meditation
"Seaside Meditation" is a meditative mix with a marine accent: a base of ocean (slow, deep wave rhythm), with singing bowl, 432 Hz and occasional distant seagull cries on top. The acoustic "meditative retreat on the ocean shore" — a Hawaiian ashram, a Greek monastery on an island, a Balinese retreat centre.
Seaside meditation works through a unique synergy of two mechanisms. The rhythm of ocean waves (about 0.1 Hz, or one cycle in 8–12 seconds) naturally matches slowed meditation breathing, producing a strong "entrainment effect" — synchronisation of breath with external rhythm. This phenomenon is described by Bernardi and colleagues (Heart, 2006) for music at ~60 bpm. Adding singing bowls and 432 Hz reinforces meditative depth, confirmed by Goldsby and colleagues (Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary & Alternative Medicine, 2017).
Use this mix for breath-focused meditation (especially for those practising pranayama, the Wim Hof method, breathwork), for long sessions (30–60 minutes), for yoga nidra with marine visualisation, for emigrants from coastal regions, for writing maritime prose with a spiritual component (Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea," Melville, Sherwood Anderson), and for podcasts on marine practice and spirituality. Pairs with Ocean Sleep (transition into sleep), Riverside Meditation (kin scene), Sound Bath (deepening).
