Jungle Dawn

"Jungle Dawn" is an exotic nature scene with the acoustics of an awakening tropics: a base of tropical forest right at dawn (a dense "dawn chorus" of many bird species at once), with cicadas (still continuing their nighttime chirring, gradually ceding to the birds), occasional frog croaks, and distant water dripping from leaves after night mist on top. A scene from Amazonian, Bornean and central African forests — the biome of maximal biological diversity on the planet.

The tropical dawn chorus is one of the most acoustically saturated phenomena in nature. Sueur and colleagues (Methods in Ecology and Evolution, 2014) documented that in the hour before and after sunrise in a tropical forest, up to 50–80 species call simultaneously, and overall acoustic density reaches the highest value found in nature. This works surprisingly well as a background for creative work: the spectrum is so broad and complex that the brain cannot extract individual signals and shifts into "full background" mode without cognitive load.

Use this mix for writing tropical and adventure prose (Conrad, Márquez, Vargas Llosa), for "life in its full density" meditation, for biodiversity and nature podcasts, for creative work (especially ideation), and to imitate an exotic holiday in northern latitudes during winter. Pairs with Tropical Storm (to amplify the tropics), Wild Jungle (as standalone background), Bamboo Grove (kin scene). Not for sleep.
