"Summer Day" is a nature scene with the acoustics of a hot summer midday in the countryside: a base of cricket chirring and cicadas in open sun, with distant breeze in the fields and occasional birdsong from tree shade on top. "Midday in Provence, Tuscany, Moldova" — the image from Latin and Southern European culture.
The mix recreates an acoustic phenomenon Mediterranean studies call "midday hush" — the characteristic silence of a southern noon when heat drives all living beings into the shade, but the background "cicada hum" creates a sense of lush ongoing life. Sueur and colleagues (Bioacoustics, 2002) documented that cicada chirring density correlates directly with air temperature — so the mix acoustically "carries" summer, not just imitates it.
