Cruise Ship

"Cruise Liner" is a travel mix with the acoustics of a modern cruise ship: a base of distant ocean (waves outside the hull), with the low-frequency engine hum and air conditioner, occasional muffled voices of other passengers on deck on top. The "cabin on a Caribbean or Mediterranean cruise" — an image of contemporary tourism culture.

The cruise liner is a unique psychological context. On one hand it combines movement (travel) and stability (you remain in the same cabin); on the other, oceanic isolation (mobile signal often weak) and social density (thousands of passengers in one hull). Larson and colleagues (Journal of Environmental Psychology, 2016) showed that listening to ocean sounds with a mechanical background (engine, air conditioner) activates the unique "mobile rest" state — rest in motion, rarely achieved in ordinary life.

Use this mix to imitate a cruise at home (especially for those just dreaming of or planning a cruise), for writing maritime and adventure prose (Conrad, Melville, White), for podcasts on sea travel, for people in long recovery from surgery or illness (the mix creates a "rest somewhere far away" feel), and for routine home work when you want to "leave for a cruise." Pairs with Ocean Sleep (night version), Long Flight (kin transport), Seaside Meditation (deepen the marine theme). A good sleep background.
